Esmeralda off the Belize coast is an intermediate dive reaching 24 meters on a reef named for its emerald-green waters created by the mixing of lagoon and oceanic water. The site features a beautiful reef slope with diverse coral formations transitioning from shallow staghorn thickets to deeper boulder and plate corals. Green moray eels are abundant, often seen swimming freely between coral heads. The intermediate depth allows comfortable exploration of both the colorful shallow reef and the beginning of the wall zone. Spotted drums, flamingo tongues, and banded coral shrimp add micro-life interest throughout the dive.
