Mandolin is an advanced wall dive in Bunaken National Marine Park, North Sulawesi, known for its pristine deep wall and encounters with large pelagic species. The site features one of Bunaken's most dramatic vertical drops, plunging from a coral-covered plateau into the abyss, with the wall face adorned in massive gorgonians, black coral trees, and dense soft coral gardens. The deep water beyond the wall occasionally produces sightings of hammerhead sharks, eagle rays, and large schools of pelagic fish, while the wall itself hosts Napoleon wrasse, bumphead parrotfish, and resting sea turtles. The shallow reef top provides an excellent safety stop with dense hard coral coverage and vibrant fish life. Currents can be strong at the point, requiring advanced skills and good buoyancy control. Mandolin rewards experienced divers with the potential for big surprises in the blue while enjoying Bunaken's famously healthy reef walls.
