Trapezaki is a beginner-friendly dive site near Ios in the Cyclades. This sheltered bay offers crystal-clear water and a gently sloping reef with rocks and white sand — the quintessential Cycladic underwater landscape. Marine life is diverse and approachable: ornate wrasse, rainbow wrasse, and damselfish dart between the rocks, while octopus and cuttlefish hide in the crevices. Nudibranchs provide colourful macro subjects on the rocky surfaces. The exceptional visibility typical of Ios often exceeds 30 meters, creating a sense of flying over the underwater terrain. Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
