Zone 51 is another of the deep technical dives off Port-Louis, a large coral mound rising to 40 metres with its base on sand at 52. The site is level 3 only for the simple reason that anything shallower would not give you the wire coral, the plate sponges, and the quiet resident fauna that make the site worth the gas plan. Trimix recommended depending on bottom time, proper stage gas, and conservative practice. Current-fed when the offshore swell runs, which both brings and removes visibility at short notice. Best attempted in the calm window from December through April.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
