South Water Caye is an intermediate dive site within the South Water Caye Marine Reserve, one of Belize's most important protected areas along the barrier reef. The site reaches 20 meters with a classic reef-to-wall transition offering diverse habitats. The shallow reef crest supports thriving elkhorn and staghorn coral colonies, while the wall below hosts large sponge formations and gorgonian gardens. The marine reserve status ensures exceptional fish populations — large schools of blue tang, yellowtail snapper, and queen parrotfish are ever-present. Manatees are occasionally spotted in the shallows, adding to this site's special character.
